Deu Indicat Institute exists to serve God through worship, contemplative prayer, theological
research and the development and support of
religious education programs.

Deu Indicat Institute desires to spread the Good News without compromising
the Holy Word of God and with respect given to our Anglican traditions.

The Deu Indicat Institute sees an expression of Christ's earthly ministry in the lives
and works of Saint Francis of Assisi and that of Saint Benedict, the later being expressed
through Saint Alcuin of York.  A brief history of each Servant of God can be found below.

Deu Indicat Institute offers Intercessory Prayer as a key component of its activities, accepts written
and email requests for such and conducts research centered around the immense power of prayer.
Biblical historical and archaeological research are areas of immense interest to the Institute as well.

The Deu Indicat Institute supports the mission and work of the Franciscan Servants of the Holy Cross. Please visit their site at http://www.holycrossfranciscans.com.  Thank you.

Deu Indicat Institute proclaims the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Savior and depends upon His guidance and blessing in all things.   Saint Alcuin of York provides an example of how the gifts given by God may be used to bless His Kingdom while Saint Benedict and his rule establish a path of discipline to assist us in achieving our goals for Christ's mission on earth.

It is Saint Francis of Assisi, in the likeness of Christ, that establishes for this Institute an example of unselfish
Christian service and the Gospel ministry in action to the benefit of God's creation for which we
offer no apology nor from whose Words of conviction we shrink.

It is important to note that at this time Deu Indicat Institute is a free standing Christian
religious organization
in that it is not formally tied to any denomination.

Above all, Deu Indicat Institute follows what has become commonly known
to believer and unbeliver alike as the "Golden Rule":

"Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets."
Matthew 6:12 (NLT)

A Short History of Saint Alcuin of York (Benedictine)

Picture
"Alcuin (ăl`kwĭn) or Albinus (ălbī`nəs), 735?–804, English churchman and educator. He was educated at the cathedral school of York by a disciple of Bede; he became principal in 766. Charlemagne  (Charles the Great or Charles I)... invited him (781?) to court at Aachen to set up a school. For 15 years Alcuin was the moving spirit of the Carolingian renaissance. He combated illiteracy with a system of elementary education. On a higher level he established the study of the seven liberal arts, the trivium and quadrivium, which became the curriculum for medieval Western Europe. He encouraged the study and preservation of ancient texts. His dialogue textbook of rhetoric, called Compendia, was widely used. He wrote verse, and his letters were preserved. Alcuin's treatise against Felix of Urgel did much to defeat the heresy of adoptionism, a Christian heresy taught in Spain after 782 by Elipandus, archbishop of Toledo, and Felix, bishop of Urgel (Seo de Urgel). He died as head of the abbey of St. Martin of Tours,
where he had one of his most famous schools." (*See bibliography and citation for this information

A Short History of Saint Francis of Assisi

"Francis Bernardone was born the son of Pietro di Bernardone, a rich cloth merchant in Assisi in Italy. He led a wealthy and privileged life, wearing clothes made of the best materials and was well educated. With a future guaranteed in his father's business some of his youth was mis-spent. His experiences as a soldier, during which time he was a prisoner of war, led him to a more sombre and religious life. He undertook a pilgrimage to Rome and returned to Assisi following spiritual visions and mystical experiences. He decided to devote his life to the Christian faith and renounced all of his wealth preferring to lead a life of poverty. His evangelical preaching inspired others to follow him and in 1209 Francis and his first followers went to Rome to ask permission from Pope Innocent III to found a new religious order. The pope agreed and Francis d'Assisi  became the founder of the Franciscan Order of Preaching Friars. He was said to have preached to birds and animals which explains his association with nature and all of God's creatures. Francis of Assisi is also famous for the Canticle of Brother Sun and Sister Moon. Saint Francis of Assisi died in 1226 of natural causes."
